When outdated software was failing to keep up with demand, Software Solved worked with the Co-op team on a bespoke training programme to provide end users with an enhanced experience and give staff the confidence to develop and manage the software going forward. 

Business Need: Skills to support on-going operational management of business critical system

Platform is the intermediary lender of The Co-operative Banking Group and provides the Group's business critical re-mortgaging application software.

The software, had bespoke elements written in outdated web application tools which could only be supported by one supplier, causing severe limitations and no flexibility.  The inefficiencies were also negatively impacting customers, as the system couldn’t keep up with Co-op’s rapidly increasing business volumes. 

Lack of skills within the in-house team meant the system could no longer be supported effectively. Concerns were raised over the time the project would take to complete internally and the potential disruption this could have on customers.  To insure the successful implementation of a .NET platform, Co-op needed training to grow the team’s skills to configure and support both the development and day-to-day operations of the system efficiently.

Solution: Bespoke mentoring and training programme on .NET

Software Solved designed a bespoke twenty-day mentoring training programme specifically for Platform that focused on .NET.

The programme addressed gaps in the existing team’s knowledge and skills. Our developers visited Co-op for a few days each month providing mentoring sessions and guidance; leading the in-house IT Team through each of the legacy improvements and being on hand to answer any questions that arose.

The team are now equipped with the technical skills relevant to .NET and have confidence to maintain and develop the software without the need for external outsourcing.

In addition to operational and productivity improvements, Co-op has seen a great return on investment. With the help of Software Solved’s training, the Group significantly reduced the build, operation and management of the online mortgage application system.

The IT team are also working in areas of .NET to improve and develop the application on a long-term basis, in ways that that they didn’t think were possible before. The company can now perform business-critical improvements for the mortgage application system with assurance.
